Dec 2005: Kushant Uppal and Prof. Ashok Jhunjhunwala began discussions on creating cost effective energy efficient solutions for the rural markets. Extensive industry research was carried out including meetings with experts on solar, wind and battery manufacturers in India and USA. Discussions with government and industry experts on energy and rural markets in India led to the conclusion that inefficient designs, low quality grids and ineffective policies are inflating product costs and creating barriers to enable the rural energy markets. This combined with non-existent sales and service channels has led to the perception that rural markets are difficult

Feb 2007: Intelizon is founded by Kushant Uppal to make energy efficient products cost-effective and reliable through state of the art technology. The company is incorporated in Hyderabad, India – a city which has defined the growth story of India in the past few years and is fast becoming the hub of technology innovation.

May 2007: Intelizon closes first round of Venture funding and begins design activities.

Nov 2007: Established and filed for trademark for the brand name ‘ZON’

Feb 2008: Launched our first platform ‘ZONLIGHT’- world’s most compact and reliable solar LED based Task light- in India.

Feb 2009: Achieved Over 1 Million Field hours with Zon Light & over 10,000 units sold.

July 2008: Achieved over 250000 field hours with Zonlight.
